i can’t believe that another year has gone… i remember my first portrait this year (here) and some of my favorites (24/5227/5233/5248/52). I loved this project and i want to keep taking one picture every week of my daughters… but i’m still not sure to share them…

WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: a NEW member.

DSC_1002
his name is Lucio and he is six months old. Zoe was asking for a cat (or a rabbit, a pig, a bird, a goldfish, a kangaroo…) for a while now and we decided that it was time to get a pet. I am always been a “dog lover” and I have grown surrounded by dogs (my dad bought a dog one year ago and the girls love her!) but a dog is a very big commitment… A cat sounded like a good compromise: we could cuddle him and play with him, but his independent nature means also less effort. A friend of mine was searching a house for this quiet, beautiful big cat and we decided to give it a chance.
well… love at first sight! He became part of the family in no time. And he is somehow so much similar to a dog! He follows me almost everywhere and found the way to say “thank you” every time i give him food or play with him! Zoe can easily touch him, but with Alma there are still (obviously!) some problems! But she is just 17 months old… she will learn! Seeing Lucio walking around the house, quietly, sometimes even bored, always elegant, is extremely peaceful…

Beh.. amore a prima vista!

Zoe Tiare: you can be a comedian and so serious, always sensible, somehow fragile…

Alma Aiko: the craziest part of the family, stubborn, practical, independent, but also deeply cuddles lovers…

WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: a CHRISTMAS TRADITION.

DSC_1189 Untitled-1DSC_1205 DSC_1208

we started with this tradition when zoe was born: every 8th of december (national holiday here in italy) we would have welcomed christmas in our house with one full day of decoration, bakings and christmas carols. this year zoe was sick but somehow she partecipated as well. no baking cookies (her intestinal flu was praying not to do that!) and we spent just the time we decorate the christmas tree singing, but i consider the tradition followed! the miracle is that alma seems not interested at all in breaking christmas balls or redecorate the house…at least until now!

WEDNESDAY around the WORLD: countdown.

 DSC_1144 DSC_1147

our advent calendar is ready! when i was a child, i have never had one… it was not a tradition in my family. but since when i became a mother, i firmly wanted one of those, maybe a homemade one, to fill not only with chocolate and sweets, but with activities and small present. i made mine last year: i asked my daddy to bring me home a branch from our woods and i bought these little pockets to fill with treasure hunts and activities for the whole family. as presents, last year i decided to follow one my favorite blog (simple as that) and started to collect my own christmas library, adding every year a couple of books to read as bedtime story during december… well. this year we’re adding a little bit more than a couple of books!! my fault – hands down – i wanted to try the amazon “used book” service and i was so satisfied! the books are in perfect conditions and i bought three books at the price of one! the smurfs’ one come from brussel (the hometown of smurfs and comics!). this year i bought even a book in italian… we’re trying to buy only english books for the girls: we’re 100% italians but we know how can be important to learn another language nowadays! plus, as you can see, i love english! i’ll write about our bilingual experience in the next future if you want!

as activities i choosed: painting a member of the family, saying something nice about each of the others, singing christmas carols at our neighbors’ doors (hope you don’t mind folks!), watching movies all together in mommy and daddy’s bed…

christmas is a magic moment… not only for one day, but for the whole month! and i can’t wait to do the christmas tree, baking cookies and singing christmas songs…

DSC_1095
